As it was expected we could not avoid a political declaration to grant immediately trade concessions to Pakistan. This will be done trough a reduction of duties (not clear if duties will be eliminated), during a limited period of time (to be defined – possibly 1-2 years) on key imports from Pakistan. We are not sure if the initial 13 products (below) will be maintained or enlarged.

Moreover the EU has committed to grant Pakistan GSP+ status as of 2014 provided the country meets the criteria. This is the most dangerous part of the Declaration because  it will very likely mean the Commission will propose a change of the GSP+ Vunerability Criteria in the new GSP Regime in order to include Pakistan.
