On the 26th of May 2006, in the GCA Cotton House, the 65th General Assembly of Members was held. At the meeting, the changes of the global structure of turnover of light industry products, allocation of textile and clothing production in Asian countries, as well as the problem of expansion of Chinese exports on the developed markets were discussed. Presenting to the members the most important directions of the GCA activities during the latest period, the Board of Directors underlined the importance of the protection of the Polish textile sector in the light of changes in the world directions in textile and clothes trade. Underlining the opinion-making role of the GCA in cooperation with EUROCOTON - the greatest impact was put on the necessity of direct lobbying in the European Commission, for creation of better development conditions for the European industry. The General Assembly passed the resolution changing the GCA Rules of the Court of Arbitration - related to the writ procedure, as well as to the fees and costs in the Court, being the lowering of the costs. The new member of the Auditing Committee was elected, in result of the resignation of a previous member. The guests of this year's General Assembly were, among others, Mr Jerzy Gagucki, Director in the Polish Chamber of Commerce and Mr Fritz Grobien - the past President of the ICA in Liverpool, who in his address underlined the many years' friendship and cooperation of our Associations. He also paid attention to the fact, that changes in our sector evoke a stronger necessity of common actions of cotton associations, institutions and organisations all over the world - both in developed and in developing countries.
