Program

The frame programme of the course includes:

 

1.      Theory of cotton fibre (botanical varieties, structure, chemical composition, basic physical parameters, 

         properties, etc.),

2.      Cotton classification with manual method – practical training,

3.      Laboratory methods of cotton testing, especially on the HVI line – theory and practice,

4.      Theory of cotton standardisation according to the Universal Cotton Standards (USDA) on which the HVI

         system was based; standardisation according to the Uzbek (and other Central Asian countries) O’z DSt

         604-2001 standard,

5.      Selected problems of world cotton market (detailed description of the most important producing and

         processing markets, basic parameters of world market, i.e. production, consumption, stocks, planting

         area, yield, prices, organisation structure of cotton institutions - like the Cotton Associations, CICCA,

         ICAC, ITMF),

6.      Selected problems of cotton marketing – trade, transport, and handling (contracts, rules, arbitration, the

         principle of sanctity of contracts, settling quality disputes, calculation of claims for cotton quality worse

         than contracted, warehousing, weighing, sampling, etc.),

7.      English terms and phrases used in the international cotton turnover.

 

After passing the final examination, the graduates receive the certificates, authorising them to perform the profession of the cotton classer. These certificates are recognised all over the world.


The tuition fee is EUR 3.200 per person.
Costs of boarding and lodging are to be borne by the students themselves.
